Following Grosvenor’s last charity distance challenge update back in early July, the team have stepped up their game and continued to literally go the extra mile!
As a quick recap of the challenge, the idea was to form a team to walk, run or cycle a distance of 14,000km (8,699 miles) before the end of 2021, and to get each member of the team to track their distance on a fitness app to help track progress. That’s the equivalent of trekking from London to Kathmandu and back!
On Tuesday 6th July, challenge leader, Matthew Tolliday, reported that the team had so far achieved a distance of 6,191km which was an incredible effort! The distance achieved was roughly the equivalent of trekking from London to Karachi, Pakistan.
Fast forward to the present day and the team are continuing to dominate, with an astounding new total of 12,514km covered throughout 2021. For context, 12,514 kms is roughly the equivalent of trekking from London to the Falkland Islands.
We are currently 78% of the way through the year and the good news is that the GWM team continue to be on course to hit the challenge target of 14,000 kms, as we have now covered just under 90% of the total. So, we are nearly 12% ahead of where we need to be or in other words 1,680 kms!
So much so that if October’s kms report match what the team conquered in September, then we would exceed the 14,000kms target by early November which would be an excellent result and a great way to end the year.
Grosvenor is supporting the charity, MIND, as mental health issues have been exacerbated over the past 12 months by the Covid 19 lockdown and health worries for many people.
